what is the gospel?

What is the Gospel?

THE GOSPEL IS THE…

DEATH

Luke 23:33 “And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified Him, and the malefactors [criminals], one on the right hand, and the other on the left.”

BURIAL

Matthew 27:58-59 “And when Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, And laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn out in the rock.”

AND RESURRECTION

Matthew 28:5-6 “And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. He is not here: for He is risen, as He said. Come see the place where the Lord lay.”

OF JESUS CHRIST

Romans 1:3-4 “Concerning His Son Jesus Christ our Lord, Which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh, And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the Spirit of holiness, by the resurrection of the dead.”

"Ye Must Be Born Again"

Have you ever thought about what it means to be "born again?" It is physically impossible to be born a second time. When Jesus made this statement, He was speaking of being "born again" spiritually (John chapter 3).

Jesus came so you could have this spiritual birth.

"As it is written, There is none righteous, no not one" (Romans 3:10).

"For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23).

Jesus died to pay for your sin.

God loves us, and the Bible tells us that "God commendeth his love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8). Jesus Christ became our sin payment when he died on the cross. "But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities, the chastisement of our peace was upon him, and with his stripes we are healed" (Isaiah 53:5).

Jesus alone can save.

Jesus said "I am the way, the truth and the life, no man cometh unto the Father but by me." In 1 John 5:11, the Bible says "And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son."

What must I do?

"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved." Salvation is in a person. "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved" (Romans 10:9).

We become a child of God not by baptism or going to church, but by faith in Jesus Christ.
